How to Calculate Online Selling Profit in Nepal

Profit = Net Selling Revenue − Total Selling Costs. Net selling price is your list price minus any discount. Costs go well beyond product cost — include packaging, the seller’s share of delivery, percentage platform and payment fees plus any fixed payment charge, advertising and other per-order expenses. Your margin improves only when net price rises or those costs fall.

What Costs Should Online Sellers Include?

Product purchase or manufacturing cost, packaging, delivery (or your split share), platform commission as a percentage of net price, payment processing as percentage plus fixed, advertising per order or spread from a monthly budget, discounts, expected returns and cancellations, plus other operating expenses. Fixed monthly costs like rent and staff matter at the monthly level, not per-order.

How Much Profit Should an Online Seller Make?

There is no single correct margin — it depends on product category, competition, ad costs, return rates and operating expenses. Judge profitability per completed order and at monthly scale after fixed costs, and test higher prices with the scenarios above.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate profit on an online sale in Nepal?

Profit per completed order = net selling price minus total variable costs (product + packaging + seller delivery + platform and payment fees + advertising + other per-order costs). This calculator does that and annualises it for monthly profit.

Does delivery cost reduce my profit?

Only the portion you pay. If the customer pays, your seller delivery cost is Rs 0. If split, only your share counts. The calculator models all three cases.

How should I calculate Daraz or marketplace fees?

Enable Platform Fee and enter the actual percentage your marketplace charges on the net selling price. Marketplace fees change, so always use the latest rate from your seller dashboard.

Should advertising costs be included in product profit?

Yes, if ads drive the sale — either as a per-order cost or spread from a monthly budget across orders. The calculator lets you choose.

What is the difference between profit and profit margin?

Profit is rupees per order (Rs 450). Margin is profit divided by net selling price (e.g. 18%). Margin lets you compare products at different prices.

How do I calculate my break-even selling price?

Solve net price × (1 − fee %) = product + packaging + delivery share + fixed payment + ads + other. The calculator does this for your fees and discounts, showing the minimum gross price that avoids a loss.

How do returns and cancellations affect online selling profit?

Only completed orders earn profit. Expected completed = orders × (1 − return %). Monthly profit uses completed orders, so a 5% return on 100 orders means about 95 paid sales.

This calculator provides estimates based on the information you enter. Actual profit may vary due to taxes, returns, delivery charges, platform commissions, payment fees, discounts, advertising costs, and other business expenses. Always use the latest fees charged by your platform or service provider.
